Today has been stressful and a little weird. When you deal with doctors there is so much subjectivity. It can make a person crazy and make me hesitant to even pretend to understand any medical stuff.
My understanding of tests must be way off. The results of my two tests were finally collected by the endocrinologist. Because they were done in two separate labs, the doctor isn't believing the results.
This all started because my PTH (parathyroid) was high. The doctor ordered an ionized calcium blood test and a 24 hour. calcium urine test. The lab technician told me that these were meant to be taken the same day.
The hospital lab lost my first sample. Even though the doctor knew it wasn't being tested on the same day, I was told to go ahead and re-do the 24 hour test. The second test was on my chart online and said that it was much too high.
Today I got a call from the doctor's nurse. She said that my test only showed high normal. I asked her why what I saw and what the doctor said were so different. She didn't really give me much, but said to re-take the tests again in three months.
I also got a phone call from the orthopedic office. I was told that the surgery couldn't happen before February 13th. I was floored! That's about three months after my 3D Talus was ordered. The surgery should be happening now.
They don't care how painful my ankle is becoming. It gets worse every few days. I'm using the wheelchair a lot of the time, especially when the pain is shooting up my calf. I asked for better pain relief, because I'm taking way too many Ibuprofen.
They have now ordered Celebrex for me to try. I really hope that I can get some relief.
Well, that's all I know for today. I'm doing my best to relax and listen to Christmas carols. Even though I often vent about medical issues, I am also thankful for the inner strength that God gives me.

It must be so frustrating. I wish you the best, in your results and up-coming surgery.
I'm sorry for the pain you are experiencing. My mother and I both have different medical conditions and have been where you are now. It is really frustrating. I hope the Celebrex helps but it is not really a pain medicine but anti-inflammatory. The only reason I'm writing is to tell you, you're not alone and I wish you all the best. Hope your surgery in Feb is a huge success.
Hopefully it will until you get Surgery. Feel better soon!
