Happy New Year 2025

Updated: Jan 4

As another year arrives, it does no good to say that the years are flying by. Everyone is feeling it. I love feeling like there is a new day, new year, and a new beginning.

Isaiah 43:18-19 - “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

In many ways this is just another day. My health doesn't get a new beginning and my pains and other symptoms don't vanish.

It's a new day and I'm still alive. I'm thankful that I have another day to live. I can still walk, even though my ankle hurts and I'm wearing a boot. I can still use my right hand pretty well, even though it's in a hard brace.

I'll have at least 4 appointments this month. My health insurance went up to a frightening amount and I don't know how we'll keep paying all the bills. We move in the summer and house prices have risen. We won't be able to buy a house like we've always had.

Financial re-sets may mean that I'll have a lower standard of living. This is similar to how I've had to lower my expectations concerning my health. Accepting my body the way it has become is necessary for my mental health.

I continue to look for ways to make my life easier, because of severe fatigue. Now that the doctor has told me to stay off my foot, I am so limited in my ability to clean and cook.

I can't give up on the dream that I could be more organized and have a cleaner home. I won't give up on the dream that a new treatment could improve my life. In 2025, I will continue to trust God with all areas of my life. It's the only way that I can have peace and contentment.
