Chronic Illness Is Not For The Weak

Writer: Lisa EhrmanLisa Ehrman

My surgery has been postponed. Unfortunately, I developed some infections on different places on my body. My GP felt that it was not smart to have surgery in my condition. So, my surgery will be one month from now.

It's kind of depressing because this will push my recovery forward into the spring season. This will push into time where we will be packing to move back to our home state of Virginia. Hubby and I are in terrible shape and physically can't do much at all.

We will try to pack a box a day and be ready to move at the end of May. One third of our belongings are packed in the garage. When we moved west we didn't have room for everything in our town home and just stored boxes in the garage.

It's hard looking for a house to buy, because the prices have gone so horribly high. We hope that our long-term realtor can help us find a place that's nice, but not expensive.

There are so many rashes and skin problems! The rash on my breast is very scary. When I showed the doctor this rash she immediately said that we should get that scanned. I will have an ultrasound next week and am praying that it's not cancer. Inflammatory breast cancer often starts this way.

I've learned that this type of breast cancer is more rare and isn't spotted on a mammogram. I wasn't due for my yearly mammogram just yet. I've learned that often when IBC is discovered it may have already reached Stage 3.

The doctor has prescribed me many different creams and drops. My eyes reacted badly to the prescription eye drops. Both eyes were so red and painful. On top of that they were severely dry. I couldn't use my Restatsis drops because they couldn't be mixed with the other medications.

The skin cream had a petroleum base (similar to Neosporin) and I got blisters from it. The doctor then told me to try a compounded cream, which is very expensive. It felt pretty good on my finger that had a deep split. But when I used it on my other finger splits, it dried out my skin so much that it woke me from sleeping.

I ended up using Refresh Relieve and it's very soothing. My eyes are so much clearer and I can see much better. The pain has stopped, too. Hopefully, things will continue to heal.

With chronic illness, I never know what a new day will bring. It's annoying to discover a new health issue that makes me feel awful all over. I think it's a viral infection, but I don't really know. The doctor will be checking with me again on Friday.

It would be so great to have an entire day when all of my body would work in sweet harmony. That's funny..... but a girl can always dream!

I will be praying that all goes well and you find answers. I, too, suffer from a chronic pain condition and it is so very true that you never know how you are going to feel from day to day.

I hope you find a wonderful property. Blessings to you!

Thank you so much for your kind words and prayers. Chronic pain is the worst! Yesterday I had all-over pain and brain fog. Today, the brain fog is better. Praying for you, too.
